Press Release: Public comments about the Department of Inspector General

ACCREDITATION TEAM INVITES PUBLIC COMMENTS ABOUT OKALOOSA COUNTY CLERK OF CIRCUIT COURT AND COMPROLLER, DEPARTMENT OF INSPECTOR GENERAL

Crestview: A team of assessors from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) will arrive December 7, 2022 to examine all aspects of the Okaloosa County Clerk of Circuit Court and Comptroller, Department of Inspector General policies and procedures, management, operations and support services, Inspector General Brad Embry announced today. The Okaloosa County Clerk of Circuit Court and Comptroller, Department of Inspector General has to comply with applicable standards in order to maintain accredited status.

As part of the on-site assessment, agency members and the general public are invited to offer comments to the assessment team. A copy of the standards is available through the Okaloosa County Clerk of Circuit Court and Comptroller, Department of Inspector General located inside the Okaloosa County Courthouse in Crestview or by calling (850) 689- 5000 ex 3424. The standards manual is also available through the Commission for Law Enforcement Accreditation’s website at (www.flaaccredotation.org).

Inspector General Brad Embry said the assessment team is composed of Inspector General and
law enforcement practitioners from similar agencies. The assessors will review case file documentation, written materials, interview IG staff, and visit offices where compliance of established standards can be witnessed.

Once the Commission’s assessors complete their review of the agency, they report back to the full Commission, which will then decide if the agency is to maintain accredited status. The Okaloosa County Clerk of Circuit Court and Comptroller, Department of Inspector General was first accredited by the Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission on February 22, 2017. The accreditation is valid for a 3-year period. Verification by the team that the Okaloosa County Clerk of Circuit Court and Comptroller, Department of Inspector General meets the Commission’s standards is part of a voluntary process to maintain accreditation, a highly valued recognition of professional excellence, Embry said.
